About Kim

Kim D. Brandon is a Poet/Novelist/Artist/Activist/Storyteller.  Kim is a proud parent of her adult daughter, Darniece Nicole.  As a professional storyteller she writes and performs her own inspirational and cultural stories.  She received her BA from Bernard M. Baruch College in New York.  

Her work has been included in stage performances, anthologies, online magazines and journals. Her work was included in Peregrine’s Black Poets Speak collection. She is a 2021 Brooklyn Poets’ Poet of the Week and a VONA alum.  She has attended Wild Seed Retreats, Cave Canem Writers Workshops, Hurston Wright Writers retreats, WOC writer’s workshops, and performances.  She is devoted to the Women of Color Writers Group, Women Writers in Bloom, Creative Expression, Brownstone Poets, Eve and Sparrow’s Poetry Community, and the New York Writers Coalition.  Her poem, Love On The Front Line was nominated for Best of the Net in 2021.  Kim lends her voice to public school students and social justice events.  She is the founder of the Brooklyn Society Writers group and the host of writing workshops and cultural events.  This year her work centers on the revolutionary power of love. .
