About Our Facilitators
  • OyaBisi is a Brooklyn-born organizer, activist, author and founder of Imani House, Inc. and The Women of Color Writers Workshop (1999). She has co-edited, “Voices of Brooklyn, Writings from the Women of Color Writers Workshop” and curated, Boundaries & Borders: A Literary Exploration of Global Voices.  Her story “Imani Means Faith” appears in the National Book Foundation’s collection Sounds of this House. Her memoir-in-progress, How Many Days Until Tomorrow, is nearing completion.
  • Kim D. Brandon is a Poet/Artist/Activist/Storyteller. She is a Brooklyn Poets’ Poet of the Week, and a VONA alum.  Her work has been included in stage performances, numerous anthologies, and journals. She is the founder of Brooklyn Society Writers Group (2007) and the host of writing workshops for people of color.
     As WOC Writers turns 25 this year, and Brooklyn Society Writers Group turns 17, we celebrate these incredible milestones as well.
